- Despina’s real surname is Malea, she changed it to Vandi in the beggining of her career, to hide from her parents that she was singing;

- Despina’s parents are named Grigoris and Parthena Malea;

- Although born in Germany, Despina’s family was from Kavala, Greece, where she and her family moved when she was six years old;

- She has one older brother and an older sister;

- As a child, her dream was to become either an actress or a singer;

- Went to the University of Thessaloniki to study psychology, philosophy, and education;
